FAQ
What is a zine?
A zine (short for magazine) is a collaborative production created and distributed by fans for other fans. They usually take the form of small magazines or books containing a themed collection of works, like art, writing, and fan-made merchandise. They can be digital-only or include physical components sold in bundles of various size. What scope will this zine have?
"On the Prowl" will be a curated (with applications), digital/PDF only zine with digital merch options.
The zine will either be offered at a low, fixed price or in a fluid pay-what-you-want model, depending on the final number of contributors and pieces featured.Where will profits go?
All profits made from the zine will be donated to World ParaVolley, the organization administering and advocating for amateur and professional Volleyball for the physically disabled.Does this zine have a theme?
No, this will be a general zine.
The MSBY4 as characters are our theme <3Does that mean every piece has to include all 4 characters/are other characters allowed?
You are always allowed to mention other characters or include them as side characters in your piece, but the focus should be on the MSBY4 members.
Writers should try to include all 4 in their pieces, artists may center their works on select characters. What is the overall rating of the zine?
We are aiming for a "Gen"/"Teen Up" rating.
Applicants must be 15 years or older by the time acceptance mails are sent out.Is there any ship or NSFW content?
We aim to be a general zine and as such want to focus on the platonic relationship between the teammates. Explicitly romantic pairings should not be part of any zine contribution. Therefore, NO sexually explicit content will be accepted!
A possible gore/violence aspect can be considdered as part of specific AUs.Are AUs included?
The focus of the zine will be on canon-compliant pieces, but we will also allow a number of AU/canon-divergent pieces.
Contributors who want to create a canon-compliant piece will only need to submit their pitch for overview purposes—no explicit approval will be necessary. Contributors who want to create an AU/canon-divergent piece will require mod-approval prior to submitting their pitch. My question isn't answered here.
If you have any more questions, feel free to send us an e-mail or an anonymous ask on our Tumblr or Retrospring <3
